Dates: Friday, Sept. 16 - Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016
We marked shoes down 30-70 percent and had GRAB BAGS!
GRAB BAGS were available on Saturday and Sunday for $15, $20 and $25 at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. For those that are unfamiliar with our Grab Bags, listen up! A Grab Bag is a sealed bag containing a mystery shoe that is labeled by price ($15, $20, $25), size and a simple description of the shoe style (i.e., party, funky, casual, career). Our grab bags are SO popular we limited each customer to one grab bag per day.
Shoes for a Year!
To celebrate the grand opening of ShuzyQ South a year ago, we gave one lucky customer a year of free shoes! Well, her reign as Shoe Princess came to an end! For almost a month we encouraged customers to stop by and enter their name into the Shoes for a Year drawing at ShuzyQ South. The drawing was held Sept. 18 on the last day of the drawing. The lucky customer was Jennifer Carpenter! I guess we can all call her Shoe Princess Jennifer now!

Ariat launched a new luxury footwear line inspired by Secretariat, the greatest racehorse of all time. Secretariat captured the Triple Crown in 1973 after he won the Belmont Stakes with an enduring world record time of two minutes, twenty two seconds, hence the name Two24. ShuzyQ is one of the first stores in America to offer Two24 footwear, and one of just 20 boutiques world-wide to currently carry the brand. To celebrate the launch of this new brand we held a derby-themed First Friday, complete with derby hats and mint juleps!
We are teamed up with all of our neighbors in South Anchorage to throw an epic Saturday afternoon party on Aug. 27, from 2 - 6 p.m.
We pulled out all the stops and had live entertainment and music, plus a beer garden and kettle corn and all types of fun activities for the whole family! At ShuzyQ we had an awesome henna booth. Maddie with Laughing Gypsy Henna was in the shop creating beautiful henna body art. Other activities included: yoga, a skate jam, fly casting and fly tying, brow shaping, lash extensions and tea sampling.
Live entertainment and music was provided by Fiona Worcester, Melissa Mitchell with Tim Haren, and the Rabbit Creek Ramblers!
And how could we forget: There was PRIZES! There was opportunities to win prizes from every participating business and one lucky person won a GRAND PRIZE gift package worth $1,000! The basket included products and gift cards from all the participating businesses. She is going to have a fun time eating, shopping and exercising locally in the SOLO (South of Lowe's) district!
The block party was a successful event that we look forward to continuing in the future!

Made local jewelry
Linda Gallagher makes beautiful jewelry and necklaces that ShuzyQ loves to sell. This was her first-ever pop-up shop for jewelry. We had so much fun with Linda in the shop and can't wait to have her back in September!
