Saturday at South: Gabrielle Thompson, Art and Soul America August 13, 2016, 12-3 p.m. Meet the artist and entrepreneur Gabrielle Thompson, of Art and Soul America was at ShuzyQ South with her collection of cards (portion of proceeds go to various wildlife protection agencies), which are always available at both our downtown and south locations. Gabrielle also showcased her prints and watercolors. Just 16 years old, ShuzyQ has carried Gabrielle's cards for two years, but she's been selling her art since she was 10! Saturday at South with Annalisa Hepner August 6 from 12 - 3 p.m. Custom caricatures as mermaids ShuzyQ's very own Annalisa Hepner was at South doing mermaid sketches for customers!   First Friday Downtown with Temper & Forge Co.
August 5, 2016 from 5 - 9 p.m. The August First Friday at the Downtown ShuzyQ store featured local metal and leather artist, Whitney Blount. Blount is the local artisan behind Temper & Forge Co. Whitney creates quality handcrafted artisan jewelry and genuine leather goods. She makes all of her products in Alaska. This was a unique opportunity to meet Whitney and peruse her beautiful collection of locally handcrafted products. Saturday at South with The Laughing Gypsy Henna July 23, 2016 from 12 - 3 p.m. Free Henna tattoos from Maddi of The Laughing Gypsy Henna! We had SO MUCH FUN with Maddi of Laughing Gypsy Henna on Saturday! For one day only at ShuzyQ South, next door to South Restaurant + Coffeehouse, every ShuzyQ customer got a body decoration with each ShuzyQ purchase. Henna is a form of a temporary tattoo that lasts 2-4 weeks and is an ancient practice that is traditionally applied to hands and feet. Maddi made beautiful and intricate designs for ShuzyQ customers on Saturday, July 23, 2016. She even matched a couple shoes or sandals with a henna tattoo!      On Friday, July 1, at our downtown Anchorage store, we celebrated our country's independence and recognized the military in our community. We had cookies and lemonade.
To show our appreciation for the military families in our community, we are offered 20 percent off purchases to military and their families, from July 1 - 4, 2016.  We had a blast with everyone who stopped by June 17 and 18 for the Miz Mooz Trunk Show! Miz Mooz brought a preview of their fall line and was on hand to answer any and all questions related to Miz Mooz. It was a two-part trunk show, with one show downtown on Friday and a second show at the South Anchorage store on Saturday. We held two drawings for a free pair of Miz Mooz shoes, one at our downtown store and another at South. Everyone was a winner when they spun the Wheel of Shoes! Everyone had a chance to win candy, shoe parties, ShuzyQ discounts or Miz Mooz swag! A.S.98 also made an appearance, sharing a sneak preview of their fall line-up.          We had a great time on June 3 with Liz Bowen in the downtown store. She had an assortment of gorgeous glass pendents and stone and silver jewelry. Liz also brought some incredibly tasty treats with her!  In addition to having Liz Bowen in the store, we had women representing Alaska Run For Women-100 Women For Kari in the store. They shared information on joining their Alaska Run for Women running/walking team. We encourage you to learn more about this group on their Facebook page. The surprise of the evening was having a bagpipe concert in front of the store! First Friday attendees were treated to a free concert in front of our building!  We had the pleasure of hosting Kork-Ease and Sofft for a full weekend at both our downtown and south Anchorage stores. We saw a preview of their fall line and FOUR LUCKY WINNERS each won a pair of Kork-Ease or Sofft shoes!!! In addition to the shoe giveaway, we had our spinning wheel out. Trunk show attendees spun the wheel and won swag from Kork-Ease, Sofft and ShuzyQ. Several folks were lucky enough to win private parties from ShuzyQ!
